Tech Connect
Sponsored by George Fox University
This is for our project.
Teleportation Device
Sponsored by George Fox University
Individual, task specific needs of amputees are not often met by standard prosthetic devices. There is a need for inexpensive, easily accessible, and customizable prosthetic solutions to help people accomplish their unique goals and aspirations.
George Fox Water Operations Resource Commission
Sponsored by George Fox University
At the beginning of this project, we learned about a new water treatment plant that was being implemented in Santa Rita, Peru. All too often, when new pieces of technology are implemented into developing countries, the systems will fail. The goal of this project was to create a way to analyze the sustainability of the water system which was to be in operation soon.
The Mobility Mirror
Sponsored by George Fox University
Our initial approach was to design an adaptable product to assist all power wheelchair users. Our user-friendly mirrors will expand range of vision and provide safety and independence. Key features of our design include simple points of attachment, reliability, and stowability. During our design process we realized that our product would also be valuable for those in non-power wheelchairs and walkers. This led us to adapt to these platforms.
La Union Water Project
Sponsored by George Fox University
Solar energy, and specifically solar powered wells, have been in existence for quite a while, and have had a solid market for about as long as they’ve been around. When it comes to our specific product, however, the market is a very specific one. We aren’t particularly concerned about the market being closed for our product, as we were contracted to design this system for our specific client, and it is such a specific system that it can only have this one application.
TEG Modular Power System
Sponsored by George Fox University
After spending a semester researching the energy needs in developing countries, our servant engineering team has found that most of these areas lack the energy generation needed to grow. This along with problems of smoke inhalation due to cooking in small homes led us choosing this project. With the access to power comes education, health services, financial awareness, and communication. By providing a means to this resource of power it can help a community grow and strive.
Tooth-Aid Kit
Sponsored by George Fox University
While originally this project was directed to a specific market, it can be expanded to all markets. Oral health care is something everyone should do, so our kit can be used with anyone.
Solar Kiln for Ugandan Woodworkers
Sponsored by George Fox University
In Kampala Uganda, there are currently only a few wood kilns in the area. According to our clients, buying kiln dried wood is often on back order and very pricey. With a new wood kiln, this would give EMI the opportunity to both use wood for private projects and sell to contractors in the community.
Project Anno
Sponsored by George Fox University
There are a few tools already in the market to make it easier to annotate pictures, however, they are not predictive tools. They provide an interface to create data for machine learning, but the user must annotate each picture by hand without a starting place. Project Anno seeks to make the process of annotation move more quickly and smoothly than these products.
Droney Express
Sponsored by George Fox University
Currently, there are no commercial products available for purchase for a system like this. There are systems that autonomously land and rapidly charge the drone but this defeats the purpose because the charging time is too long.
