At the beginning of this project, we learned about a new water treatment plant that was being implemented in Santa Rita, Peru. All too often, when new pieces of technology are implemented into developing countries, the systems will fail. The goal of this project was to create a way to analyze the sustainability of the water system which was to be in operation soon.
This water system has already been constructed and is in use. The systems modeling that has been done will be brought to Santa Rita, and will be used to inform research which will be done on the system this coming summer.
Need lots of amazing and smart people to help complete this project! Any and all help is welcome!

The solution began as a scoring rubric which would identify where a system had its shortcomings. As we progressed, the solution changed to understanding how the system’s dynamics interact and influence its long-term sustainability using software including Vensim and MicMac.

It will be used in Santa Rita. As this is not a physical prototype, it will not be sold, and will not benefit from further funding.
