Project Anno

Sponsored by George Fox University

Describe your project ...

There are a few tools already in the market to make it easier to annotate pictures, however, they are not predictive tools. They provide an interface to create data for machine learning, but the user must annotate each picture by hand without a starting place. Project Anno seeks to make the process of annotation move more quickly and smoothly than these products.

What are your goals?

Machine learning can be a very effective way to handle large amounts of data that is analyzed in the same way but varies in the information given. When working with pictures, a standard program cannot always identify what is in the picture, whereas a machine learning program is trained to identify specific features in pictures that can be used for analysis. Using machine learning to analyze pictures, however, is not user friendly to those who are not familiar with the programming process.

What do you need?

Need lots of amazing and smart people to help complete this project! Any and all help is welcome!

What inspired this project?

The goal is to have a working database structure and an outline of the web interface by the end of the year. This will be our prototype because we will be able to do basic REST functions with our database.

This project is currently...

This project is exciting because of the opportunities learn and apply knowledge of databases.

Tell us about yourself!

This project is motivated by the growing demand for smartly programmed projects. These projects tend to have very small amounts of coding focus but a larger physical component.

This project exemplifies the Kingdom of God by ...

Project Anno is a web service that predictively annotates pictures. The user will annotate a few pictures, then it will predict a few more for the user to check, and the cycle continues until the model is fully built.
